Open Source Software

We don't sell our software, we give it to you as part of our service.
We always have and always will.

Which means we're constantly being asked, how does not selling software make good business sense?

Well here's the thing, in a closed source arrangement your IT provider builds or supplies a solution which comes with licensing, update and support costs. If the solution was written exclusively for you from the ground up you need to pay for the time put into the build plus the value of the estimated intellectual property that came out of it. It's usually a lot of money.

It also means you are dependent on a single company to keep the system going.

If the solution was boxed software you will need to pay for it to be customised so that it fits, as well as for any updates. It's usually less money, but because it wasn't written for your business you find it doesn't always work the way you want it to.

In the open source world, we take the core of an existing solution and build upon it so that it fits your needs directly. If we like the work we've done, we put the additional code back out in the community for others to use.

You pay only for our time to customise the solution to fit, rather than building it from the ground up. And if you need to down the track, you can pay us or anyone else to make more change - we don't lock it down.

We get to build better and better solutions and benefit from, as well as share with - a world-wide community of like-minded professionals. So our work is more rewarding, because your systems are a better fit.
