About the Client

Riverina-based De Bortoli Wines has grown from its humble start in the 1920s to a top Australian wine producer distributing to the world. Now producing wines in the Riverina, Yarra Valley, King Valley, Heathcote and Hunter Valley, the family controlled business is passionate about producing great wines now and for generations to come.

Challenge

De Bortoli Wines has offered a subscription-based range of wine packages delivered six times a year. The Melba Wine Club provides customers with an unforgettable wine experience through the online club, and packages.

With an existing Wine Club solution from an international vendor that made support and addressing Australian requirements difficult, De Bortoli Wines was looking for a system that integrated with Australian payment and shipping options, and could be tailored to their specific needs while still being easy for staff to manage.

Solution

Building on the open source e-commerce platform Magento, Cerebrum developed a wine club solution for De Bortoli Wines that integrated with their existing Australian payment provider, Australia Post shipping tools, and email marketing system.

Staff are able to create and manage wine packages, including fulfilment frequency, stock validation and customisation. Once configured, the system automatically runs scheduled fulfilment processes, takes payment generates shipping manifests, updates users’ profiles, etc.

Club members are able to maintain their profiles, including contact details and shipping address, update recurring payment options, pause and modify their subscription. Additionally, they are able to see their previous wine packages, leave reviews and purchase additional products with their membership discount.

With a system that meets all stakeholder needs, De Bortoli Wines has been confident to promote it at their cellar doors and online, seeing substantial membership growth, and engagement with valued members.
